Most Facebook users have now downloaded the Facebook Messenger App – we all downloaded this app to make sure that we received ALL of our Facebook messages, right? Well, surprise! Facebook Messenger has a “secret” folder that houses messages that can appear spammy. (think of it like an email system) Anyone who tries to send you a private message without being your friend on Facebook will instead send a ‘message request’, which the recipient can read and then decide whether they want to allow any communication. Well, some of those messages (from non-friends) can be mistaken as spam and get filtered into this secret folder without ever notifying us. Holy macarole right?

Are you ready to see how to find this “secret” Facebook folder? This is mind-blowing y’all.

Here is how to view this secret Filtered Facebook Message Folder:

DESKTOP

Go to MESSAGES and click SEE ALL at the bottom.

On the left side of your screen you will see a button that say MORE – click it.

Then click on FILTERED.

Now, you will see A LOT of Facebook messages that were filtered out as spam.

MOBILE

Click on the Facebook Messenger App.

Click SETTINGS on the bottom right hand corner.

Click MESSAGE REQUESTS.

Click SEE FILTERED REQUESTS.

Here, you will find these filtered messages that you have not been notified of.
Obviously this feature has been around for a while, but users are just figuring it all out. Don’t feel bad – I am just discovering this folder as well. I personally just found this secret folder and I had over 30 unread messages that I wasn’t even aware that I had received. So, what do you guys think of this secret messages folder in messenger – it can be a good thing to keep the creeps away, but there are some legit messages that end up in there that we aren’t notified of.
