Last week I did something that I have yet to do before and I was sweating bullets y’all. I was asked to speak at the Brunch Collective – a quarterly brunch for creative female entrepreneurs in the Chattanooga area, which is super close to where I live. I was super honored to have been asked and also super nervous, but sometimes you just have to put your big girl boss panties on…

Shawanda is such a gem! She is a strong woman entrepreneur with an eye for design, styling, and business! Of course, her and I hit it off immediately. Our “brunch” actually took place in the evening at The Wildflower Tea Shop & Apothecary. The room was filled with 15ish women who are founders, creators, bloggers and side hustlers. First of all, let’s take a look at how gorgeous The Wildflower Tea Shop is…
This is the famous brick wall and mustard couch, so divine right?
Wildflowers adorned the tables in the tea room…all sorts of gorgeousness y’all.
After a bit of mingling and brunch, the discussion was starting. Holy crap! I was so nervous you guys. I was worried I wasn’t going to have all of the answers, I was going to appear that I didn’t know what I was talking about, or even worse – that I would totally crack under pressure. As we sat down to chat, a sense of calm came over me. It was like I put my BIG GIRL BOSS PANTIES on and handled every question that was presented to me.
Aren’t these branded notebooks super cute?!
Shawanda and I went through a series of social media questions, as well as answering questions from the women. We discussed everything that I could think of pertaining to social media.
One of the best parts of the brunch, was that I got to see my blogging bestie, mentor, client, and absolute hilarious blogger Jenna from Rain On a Tin Roof! Remember my post about my go-to eBook (Standing Out) that taught me SO much about blogging? Yeah, Jenna is the author. I told y’all she is amazing! If you are ready to take your blog by the horns and start standing out, this my friend is the eBook for you.
Let me introduce y’all to one of my new blogging besties, Julie from Julie J. Blog! She also has an Etsy shop, Personalize It Pretty – where she offers monogrammed goodies perfect for any girl boss – or southern belle for that matter. 🙂 It was so nice to meet you Julie!
Of course I had to sneak in a picture with our host, Shawanda. Thank you so much for having me as the guest speaker for the brunch sister!
The exposed brick walls throughout The Wildflower Tea Shop & Apothecary just begged for selfies!
I conquered my fear of public speaking. Even though this group was a small group of women, personal and intimate settings like these can be just as overwhelming as a large audience. On my way to the brunch, I was seriously freaking out – doubting myself – and definitely lacking confidence. But sometimes you just have to put your BIG GIRL BOSS PANTIES on and handle it, like a boss. I did just that and in the process I helped other women entrepreneurs, made new friends, and grew as a business owner. Overall, this was an amazing experience and guess what? I would even do it again. 🙂 You never know what you’re capable of until you get out of your comfort zone ladies.
